A very scarce LAPPLAND shield on army backing. The shields that are original were usually made in the field or in many cases in the POW camps, so however well made they were they were not of factory quality or detail. Almost all the original examples I have come across have been made from aluminium, presumably made from mess tins etc. Non that I have ever seen have had pins, but were sewn to their backing material as in this case. I have seen two Wehrpasse, s in the past that have entries for this award, and both were original and dated after the war had ended. The example offered has four small holes that is used to sew the shield to the oval field grey woollen backing. |
